Our vision is to provide comfortable, caring, patient centered dental treatment to every person that we see. We strive to provide a compassionate and friendly environment with a team that truly cares about your health and well being. We do our best to make your dental appointment an efficient, convenient and pleasant experience by offering payment options, same day treatment, online forms and scheduling as well as several options for managing anxiety. We aim to bring our hearts each day so that we can be the dental home that you deserve.

All of the dental hygienists, assistants, and office staff at Southwest Nebraska Dental Center are licensed professionally in their particular dental expertise. To give you the best possible service and results, we are committed to education and learning. Dr. Haag regularly attends many hours of continuing education and is committed to treating patients with the most advanced "state of the art" dental technology.

Community Involvement
As a McCook native it was Dr. Haag’s vision to not only bring great dental care back to her hometown, but to also make a positive impact on her community. The team annually volunteers their time to go to area schools such as; Southwest Public Schools, Wauneta-Palisade Public Schools, Hayes Center Public Schools, Hitchcock County Schools, Little Knights Preschool and Headstart programs to do oral health exams. We also take time for educating the children using tooth brushing animals, videos, and getting to play by placing a play dough filling in a big tooth! At the end, all the kids go home with new toothbrushes! It is a ton of fun!
As an office, we regularly donate toothbrushes to local causes such as daycares, preschools, school fun nights, and different mission projects. We participate in community events, such as parades and county fair booths. We annually host a back to school free sno cone day. We hosted a "Candy Buy Back" event, in which we traded kids' Halloween candy for prizes and sent the candy to the troops serving overseas! We partnered with America’s Tooth fairy to raise oral health supplies to donate to the McCook Family Resource Center. We recently hosted a Free Kids Dental Day and completed free dental treatment for underprivileged youth. We also host an annual "Smile Giveaway" where we see a patient and give them a new smile at no cost!
We believe in our mission to help our communities thrive in any way we can, whether it’s in the dental chair, education, fun, a toothbrush, or simply spreading kindness.

Dr. Kaitlin Haag
Dr. Kaitlin Haag is a McCook native who graduated from McCook High School in 2004. She is also a graduate of Chadron State with a degree in biology. She then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She knew she wanted to be a dentist after an unfortunate softball accident knocked out her two front teeth and she had a wonderful dentist that helped her get her smile back.
Dr. Haag joined Southwest Nebraska Dental Center in 2011 and has since acquired full ownership, where she enjoys working with her wonderful team. She loves seeing patients of all ages and helping them achieve and maintain healthy teeth. Dr. Haag strives to be at the forefront of dental techniques by taking in-depth, hands-on continuing education courses.
Dr. Haag, her husband Buck, and their daughters Grace and Caroline and son, Sterling live by Bartley, where Buck is involved in production agriculture. She also enjoys music, visiting her family, and traveling.

Jeannie
Office Manager
Jeannie has been with the practice since 1985! In addition to her administrative skills, Jeannie also has training in dental x-rays and assisting with implants. Jeannie is a people person and loves helping patients understand their dental needs. Her interests include sewing and gardening.
Katie
Insurance Coordinator
Katie is has been an essential part of our team since 2015 and is our go-to expert for all things insurance. In addition to her insurance expertise, Katie is also our tech-savvy problem solver, lending a hand with computer and software needs, and she plays a key role in our marketing efforts—truly a woman of many talents!
Katie lives near Bartley with her husband and 3 kids. She enjoys the peaceful country life, especially horseback riding with her family. She also loves to travel. One of her favorite destinations so far? Beautiful Hawaii!
Ashley
Scheduling Coordinator
Ashley has been with SWNDC since 2014. She is a certified dental assistant and has her certification in coronal polishing and dental x-rays She values the relationships she has formed during her time with the practice. She made the change to scheduling coordinator in 2018. She is as bubbly as they get. Christmas is her favorite holiday (we would start celebrating in July if it was up to her!)
Outside of the office, she is busy with her children and their activities.
April
Receptionist
April became a member of our team in 2014. She recently made the transition from dental assistant to receptionist.
She received her x-ray certification from Nebraska Dental College in Lincoln, and her coronal polishing certification from Central Community College in Hastings.
April’s favorite thing about being part of the dental team is seeing patients who were once embarrassed about their teeth leave the office with a smile. She also loves being part of a team that is so successful at helping anxious patients overcome their fears of the dentist.
April lives in McCook, where she also teaches fitness classes at the YMCA. She is married and loves spending time with her family!
Shelby
Hygienist
After attending Central Community College in Hastings, Shelby returned to her hometown of McCook and became part of the SWNDC crew as a dental hygienist in 2014. She has been making our patients smile ever since, especially children. She received her laser certification from the Academy of Laser Dentistry in 2018.
Shelby is married and enjoys baking, crafting, and playing with her son, Greyson and her daughter, Brooklyn.
Amber
Hygienist
Amber joined our team as an experienced hygienist in December of 2022. She graduated Colby Community College in 2014 with an Associates of Dental Hygiene degree. She is lives in McCook with her husband and 2 children, son Asher, and daughter Harlow. Amber enjoys spending time with her family at the lake in the summers, reading and relaxing at home.
Tiara
Hygienist
Tiara joined our team in 2025 after graduating from UNMC. She returned to her hometown of McCook to begin her dental hygiene career. She got engaged in March and is planning a wedding for May 2026. In her free time, she enjoys pickleball, reading, and spending time with family—especially her golden retriever, Roxy.
Shannon
Dental Assistant
Shannon began working at our practice in 2017 and is an experienced dental assistant, starting in the dental field in 1995. She brings her knowledge and friendliness to our office! She lives in McCook with her husband and enjoys spending time with family. In the summer, you can find her on a golf course or at the lake. Her winter hobbies include skiing on the slopes!
Kirsten
Dental Assistant
Kirsten joined our dental home as a dental assistant in April 2022. She received her dental assistant certification from Lincoln's Southeast Community College in 2016. She enjoys spending time with her family. She also loves doing various crafts in her free time. Kirsten is married and has one son, Sutton.
Maddie
Assistant
Maddie joined our team after earning her Dental Assisting degree from Mid-Plains Community College in 2025. She’s a 2024 graduate of Hitchcock County High School and recently moved to McCook from Trenton. She enjoys playing sports such as golf and pickleball, and she loves spending time with her friends and family.
