Southwest Nebraska Dental Center is excited to bring the newest technology in Laser Therapy to our patients! The PERIOLASE DENTAL LASER!
While there are many uses for the PERIOLASE in our office such as sterilizing root canals, treating viral gum infections, cosmetic tissue removal, and preparing gum tissue around crowns, the primary use is in treating gum disease.
The PERIOLASE dental laser received FDA clearance in November 2004 for treatment of gum disease by using the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP). This is the ONLY laser gum treatment protocol that has FDA clearance for new attachment of gum and bone tissue around teeth.
What this means to our patients is no more cutting of tissue with scalpels, no more suturing of cut tissue, and most important very little discomfort!
Prior to the using the Periolase, Dr. Nix referred his advanced cases of gum disease patients to Periodontal specialists for osseous (bone) surgery. There were many disadvantages: time away from work, multiple trips, and the intense pain involved with the healing following surgery. Before the Periolase, many patients opted not to have surgery and just maintain their teeth until they needed extraction!
Now, with the PERIOLASE Laser Gum Therapy you can:
- Have your gum disease treated here in our office WITHOUT having to travel long distances to the specialist. And NO more multiple trips out of town!
- Treat your gum disease WITHOUT scalpel cutting of tissue or needle sutures!
- Experience very little to NO pain following treatment! Virtually all of our patients who have been treated with the PERIOLASE laser Gum Therapy have only needed a mild analgesic such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) following treatment.
*Latest medical research links periodontal (gum) disease bacteria to several systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, osteoporosis, diabetes, respiratory disease, and premature births. The Periolase Laser decontaminates gum tissues and is the best technology to sterilize your mouth from these harmful bacteria and protect you from problems associated with these diseases!
